GUNS: HOLLYWOOD IN DENIAL

SPECIAL POST

Hollywood and television are saying there is absolutely no connection between violence in their productions and violence in America.  In fact, they are so dismissive of the possibility that they are already announcing they have no plans to change what they put on the air or into the theaters.  Well, they're all left-wing liberals anyway, and we all know that they never make a mistake.

Any grade school psychology student will tell you that if you subject a person to the same environment continuously over a period of time, he or she is going to change their personality.  That was one of the prime arguments in the Patty Hearst case, if you want to have a quick study on what I'm talking about.  She came to think that using guns, shooting people and robbing banks was acceptable behavior because that's what her captors kept pounding into her.

Over the decades, the family unit has totally changed. Mom used to stay home and rear the kids, mom and pop stayed together, the family participated in wholesome activities together, our politicians and celebrities set good examples, on and on.  Today, marriages don't last, both parents work, and kids are left to fend for themselves.  What are their outlets?  Movies, television, video games and texting.

These are the reasons that we need a comprehensive study of the issue of gun violence, and other types of violence in schools and elsewhere.  Our country has a higher percentage of its citizens in jail than any other country.  That has to sound an alarm bell:  Why is that so?  There's a reason for it and it's connected to the gun violence issue that we are dealing with.

For Hollywood and television to flatly refuse to participate in an examination and investigation of the particulars and to bury their heads in the sand is sheer irresponsibility.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
