AMERICAN SPEECHLESS OPINION?

I’m speechless. I don’t know where to begin. The President’s State of the Union address is old news and every two-bit opinion maker, including me, has already had their say. I’d like to kick Obama around the parking lot a few times, but what’s the use? He’s either too dumb to understand how Americans really think, or he just doesn’t care. Reid and Pelosi? Hell, they’re now rated so low in the polls that no one wants to read about them anymore.

What can I dig up to say about the illustrious Barney Frank? It’s been a while since I fried his fanny on these pages; let’s see…

January 29, 2010, good old Barney provided some us with more of his famous wisdom. He told the BBC of a "constitutional crisis" in the United States. He was complaining about the 60 vote filibuster-proof Senate that Scott Brown’s election disrupted. He reported that a financial reform package, passed in the House, is going to get torpedoed in the Senate by a filibuster. Obviously, he still harbors an internal hatred for democracy in action. If he was smart, he order Brown to come over to his office, and then he’d pull seniority on him and tell him about the facts of life as a lawmaker from Massachusetts. I’d like to see him do that.

Well, that’s all I can say about Barney. I’m running out of material. Oh… Hillary. I don’t think I’ve had a word to say about Hillary since before the election. And now… I’m going to have to applaud her for finally showing some intelligence. She’s made it clear she will not stay on as Secretary of State if Obama gets a second term, and she’s not going to run for President, either. Now, if she WERE going to run against Obama in 2012, it would only be polite and expected for her to vacate her job first. So, for her to say she’s not running…. Well, that’s kind of like saying she doesn’t really want to stick around for another four years with Obama. If anything, it’s a slap at his face. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next in that relationship.

Only half a blog ready to post and I’m running out of important things to discuss.

One of the nation’s top golfers is calling it quits. No, it’s not Tiger Woods, it’s John Daly. In his day, John could hit a golf ball so far that sometimes it would circle the globe and slam him in his butt. Daly is 43 years old and has struggled with his game for years. While he could hit a ball a mile, you never really knew for sure where it was going to go and he’s not that great a putter. If he does quit, I’ll be sorry to see him go, but Tiger might want to buy his 9-iron.

Mumbling right along… I see that Bin Laden has come out of his cave long enough to claim that the United States is causing global warming. Well, I’ve got this to say about that… What does he think those explosions and plane bombs on 9/11 did, contribute to global cooling? Did Al Gore move in with him, or what? We need to take him out, and not to dinner, either. Here we can use our satellites to spot a fly on one of Tiger’s golf balls, but we can’t find Osama even after eight years pass? For some reason, I suspect we don’t want to find him. Maybe we owe him some money for the national debt? God knows, we owe everyone else on the planet.

No, I don’t want to discuss health care; that subject is bound to be back in the forefront before a fortnight passes. Jobs? This is interesting. Three different people in the Obama administration came up with three different figures as to how many jobs have been saved or created with the Recovery Act. They opted to go with 2,000,000. What that is based on, I don’t know. How do you measure jobs saved? The boss looked at his employee with a mean glance, and the employment Czar warned the boss not to fire him, so they saved a job? An accountant was there to watch this exchange and reported it to the ARA website, the site that’s the laughing stock of Washington? Wasn’t it Obama himself who said that figures really don’t matter, back when the website was claiming jobs saved in Congressional Districts that don’t exist?

Here’s the sad part of this, and as a religious man I have a difficult time relating to this: Every day, we have been losing more and more jobs. People have been losing cars, houses, spouses… businesses… And we’ve been talking about everything else under the sun except jobs. This is not economics, or politics, or health care time… it’s humanitarian time. Get people to work, dammit.

But, my guess is that we’ll still be jawboning about health care six months from now and unemployment will be sky high. How can we sleep at night? Why aren’t we standing on the steps of the Capitol shouting from the tops of our lungs and demanding jobs?

There, that does it. Sorry I didn’t have much to say today, but

THE PRESIDENT’S STATE OF THE UNION: My American Response

SPECIAL POST

Let me state at the outset that I did not listen to the speech and I have not tuned in to any radio or T.V. commentary about what he said, what he meant, what he should have said, why he didn’t say something else, or what impact his speech will have on the 2010 or 2012 elections. I’m looking solely at the Yahoo news report of his speech as taken from the Associated Press. I’m going to respond in the order of the report; I do not know whether or not this is the order that the subjects came up in or not.

1. “He said he would fight on for ambitious overhauls of health care, energy and education.” - While that’s nice, they can come next year; what about jobs, housing foreclosures, and the national debt? Why weren’t they the top three priorities in this speech?

2. "As hard as it may be, as uncomfortable and contentious as the debates may be, it's time to get serious about fixing the problems that are hampering our growth." – We elected you because you said you would tackle these problems. It’s been a year, why is only now time to get serious about it?

3. He implored Congress not to walk away from his Health Care Reform, "Not now. Not when we are so close." – We don’t want your damned Health Care Reform in the context you have written it. Don’t you yet get the message? Yes, we want change in Health Care, not the change you propose and it’s not on our top priority list. Refer to Point 1, above.

4. He wants to impose a new fee on banks. – Not that I like banks, but who is going to pay for this penalty? You and I, and at a time when we can least afford it.

5. National security, he claims some success. – There was no mention or thanks to the guys who kept the Christmas Day bomber from being successful, or why Napolitano and he both said our “system worked.”

6. Declaring that "I know the anxieties" of Americans' struggling to pay the bills while big banks get bailouts and bonuses,” Obama prodded Congress to enact a second stimulus package "without delay." - He hasn’t spent all of the money from the first stimulus yet and it did not work. What do we need this for?

7. He talked about his budget freeze, but did not address how you can raise spending to unprecedented levels in the face of an economic crisis, and then freeze spending and claim that you are saving money.

8. The President did NOT discuss paying the unused TARP money back into the Treasury as was promised.

9. The AP report says that “Obama acknowledged ‘my share of the blame’ for not adequately explaining his plans to the public and connecting with their everyday worries. At the same time, he offered an unapologetic defense of pursuing the same agenda on which he won.”

10. The President did make one remarkable and very truthful statement: "We face a deficit of trust." - Amen to that. I don’t trust him or any single person in Washington, period.

So, what did I miss by not listening to his speech? Nothing. It has always been, and continues to be as with all politicians regardless of party… Smoke and mirrors. Flim flam. El Toro poooopoo.

Let’s cut from the El Toro stuff and get on with the real and proper mending of the nation.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

AFTER MASSACHUSETTS, WHAT'S NEXT?

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine has been working relentlessly to push Obama’s Health Care agenda through Congress for months, regardless of a growing number of Americans who have expressed that they do not like the plan at all. Even while more and more Americans were losing their jobs, their houses, their furniture and their self-esteem, Obama made passage of “his plan” the cornerstone of his year-one Presidential agenda, and he pulled out all of the stops to get his way. He lied, he misled. Behind closed doors, he and/or his hatchet man, Rahm Emanuel, threatened lawmakers, made unethical deals, and browbeat others into going along.

On the Hill, political favors were called in. Deals were made. Lobbyists were listened to. Threats were made. Promises to the American people were given and promptly broken. Those who balked were demeaned, ridiculed and marginalized. Promises of transparency evaporated. More than one end-run was developed and implemented to shove the plan up Americans’ rear ends when they weren’t supposed to be looking.

In the immediate aftermath of the Massachusetts U.S. Senate race, those in Washington who were part of the Obama-Pelosi-Machine started conniving about how they could get Obama’s plan passed. Obama vows he will get health care passed; he will not give up. As late as yesterday, and probably today, the White House is blaming Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and others, thereby insulting the intelligence of 66% of Americans who want the plan scrapped.

Is Obama’s Health Care Plan toast? Is it finished?

No.

The right answer here, of course, is for the plan to be totally junked and for a new plan to be developed that addresses and resolves the rising costs of health care by capping malpractice awards, by allowing prescription competition from Canada, by reining in insurance company profits, by providing incentives for students to enter the health care profession, and by eliminating fraud and waste in Medicare and Medicaid. If there is really a $400 billion savings to be had by the elimination of fraud and waste, use some of that money to establish basic health care for the uninsured or those who have lost benefits due to unemployment.

But, this is not the only message to be delivered by the Massachusetts vote. Americans are fed up with out-of-control government spending. The national debt is outrageous. No real or meaningful effort has been forthcoming from the Administration to get people back to work. Although the message was for Obama and the Congress to address these issues forthwith, the reaction in Washington is that they want to increase the debt ceiling, do another stimulus package, and not pay back to the treasury the TARP money that was “guaranteed” to go back into the national coffers.

Although Americans intensely dislike the “change” Obama wants, he has made it abundantly clear that he intends to get his way and he doesn’t give a damn what you or I think. The only reason Obama’s Health Care Plan has currently stalled is because enough members of Congress told Pelosi and Reid that they would no longer take orders lying down. The would-be dictatorship, however, doesn’t get the message. Obama has made it clear…. Again, even in the aftermath of a public uproar, that he will get his way.

In the final days of the Massachusetts campaign, Coakley gathered tons of bulk money from unions; Brown surpassed that in small donations of $35 to $100 that came flocking into his campaign chest from all across the country and from people who have never even been to Massachusetts. In fact, some of them, like Coakley, can’t even spell the name of the state. Although that fact speaks volumes about the mood of Americans, Obama is blaming everybody but himself and he’s whining like a sick dog, vowing to win his way at all costs.

If his attitude doesn’t sound like a dictator, a potentate, an emperor in sheep’s clothing, what does? In any other country, I believe that Obama would have the storm troopers out in the streets, lining people up against the walls and shooting them. It’s that same, fundamental mindset that keeps Obama from coughing up his birth certificate. He wants his way and he has the arrogance to believe that he is entitled to it.

America may have won the day on January 19th when the sun shined in Massachusetts, but do not think for a moment that we won the battle. The battle will not be won until November when we evict the entire House and 1/3 of the Senate from their plush, cushy offices and their unethical conniving jobs.

Maybe then, the message will finally be understood: This is our country. Don’t screw with it.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION 101

The Constitution as we know it has been hijacked by the Congress and by the White House. Even the Courts have now taken the opportunity to provide their own definitions of the law, which often are in total conflict with Constitutional provisions.

Most recently, President Obama has expressed dismay and disagreement with the provisions of the Constitution and has alluded to his belief that the Constitution has continuous evolvement and change as times change. This is all hocus pocus. The Constitution is the law of the land; it does not change. If you want to change it, you amend it, just like a set of bylaws in your condo association. Otherwise, it means what it says.

Everyone should read and understand our Constitution. Article V in particular describes the only legal method for changing our Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it  necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate. “

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
To Propose Amendments
• Two-thirds of both houses of Congress vote to propose an amendment, or
• Two-thirds of the state legislatures ask Congress to call a national convention to propose amendments. (This method has never been used.)
To Ratify Amendments
• Three-fourths of the state legislatures approve it, or
• Ratifying conventions in three-fourths of the states approve it. This method has been used only once -- to ratify the 21st Amendment -- repealing Prohibition.

The Supreme Court has stated that ratification must be within "some reasonable time after the proposal." Beginning with the 18th amendment, it has been customary for Congress to set a definite period for ratification. In the case of the 18th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd amendments, the period set was 7 years, but there has been no determination as to just how long a "reasonable time" might extend.

Of the thousands of proposals that have been made to amend the Constitution, only 33 obtained the necessary two-thirds vote in Congress. Of those 33, only 27 amendments (including the Bill of Rights) have been ratified.

That’s the law of the land. It has been in place since 1789. It has guided us through many perils. If Obama, or Reid, or Pelosi want to change it, they either have to follow the rules or overthrow the government of the United States. The question is: Have they taken covert steps to do the latter?

NEW SCARE: WHEELS COMING OFF ON AIRLINE SAFETY

SPECIAL POST

The news late today is that a passenger who was on the "Do Not Fly List" boarded a plane in Philadelphia and flew to San Francisco on Saturday.  The Center for Disease Control had placed the unidentified passenger on the list due to the fact that he has tuberculosis.  Investigators are trying to determine how the noticeably-ill man made it through security checkpoints and onto the plane.

No word has yet been received from Janet Napolitano or Barrack Obama as to how the system worked.

Things will be so much better after these guys take charge of our health care.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

AMERICA NEEDS A LESSON FROM THE NRA

Every Congressional session, some lame-brained far-left Liberal takes a shot, pardon the play on words, at American’s rights to bear arms. The gun rights advocates, led by the National Rifle Association and dozens of other national and state groups manage to stymie those who would trash the Second Amendment and confiscate all guns in private hands in the United States. The frustrated anti-gun fanatics resort to all manners of tricks, lies and deceit in an effort to further their agenda without success.

Why, and what does that mean to the average Americans who are in the battle against big government on other issues?

Americans are becoming increasingly aware of how the Obama-Pelosi-Reid dynasty is maneuvering to destroy fundamental freedoms and rights that we have, one-by-one. The Health Care Plan, as being pushed down our throats by the dynasty, seizes from us our religious stands against abortion, our rights to choose the type of health care that we want on an individual basis, and the ability to decide for ourselves how much, or if, we want to pay for insurance. It provides for jail time if we refuse to pay taxes that could be used to fund abortions for the welfare-hooker mom down the street. The fact that they are now refining their dirty deed behind closed doors where Americans have no say is indicative of the fact that they know they are doing wrong, but they intend to get it done anyway.

That is but one example of what big government is doing to us. We all have our own personal stories about the tyranny of government intervention in our lives and freedoms that is basically unconstitutional. We even have national leaders such as Nancy Pelosi who, when asked about the constitutionality of the health care plan, have the unmitigated audacity to say, “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

This begs the question: “Are you serious?” Do you believe the time has come to restore our constitution as the guiding principle under which our country is governed? If so, we need to take a lesson from the N.R.A.

The N.R.A. does not allow the elite-establishment-dynasty to stonewall on American rights. The N.R.A. membership does not sit on the couch grumbling; it gets down and dirty and directly in the faces of those who dare to trash the 2nd Amendment. As a result, it backs the enemy away.

Members of the N.R.A. proudly wear garments with the N.R.A. logo clearly displayed; they have N.R.A. bumper stickers on their cars. And, when a gun-rights issue comes up, they are Johnny-on-the-spot to take their stands and sound off loud and clear what their positions are. They live and breathe the 2nd Amendment.

Therein lies the lesson of this post. We Americans have been far too complacent. Like the N.R.A., we need to be informed, aware, and constantly ready to defend our American rights in every respect. We need to fly the flag of liberty every day in our hearts and minds and on our doorsteps. We need to take the initiative to get “in their faces” every time they try to trample on our constitution. We need to be constantly vigilant and aware.

We can no longer shrug our shoulders and cave in to the far left agendas. I’ve heard it said, and often taken the position myself, that “they” are in charge, “they” are going to pass this health care plan, and there is nothing we can do about their unethical, immoral, corrupt methods of getting what “they” want.

Bullshit, I say. We need to be the new membership of the N.R.A. of patriotism. Call it what you will, “The National Association of Americans,” if you want, or even “The American Tea Party.” Whatever it is, we need to unite, to stand together, and to demand... not ask for, but demand… our rights to individual liberties and the pursuits of happiness. Those who stand in our way must be removed.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

2010: AN AMERICAN ODYSSEY

This is the time of the year, every year, where we look to the future, set our sights forward and pray for peace and prosperity.

I’m sure there are few Americans who are not glad to see 2009 go under the bridge. Yet, the pieces of that troubling year are the foundation for this year ahead of us and we all know that the signs are ominous. I’m not going to belabor the heavy leftovers from 2009, such as the crappy legislation the Senate passed on health care Christmas Eve in the face of unanimous polling that shows the overwhelming majority of Americans oppose the current bills. But, I do need to stop and look at what that piece of legislation revealed about the character of our government.

Perhaps I should say lack of character?

  • Max Baucus appearing on the Senate floor in almost a total drunken stupor
  • The White House warning Senator Ben Nelson that he’d better give the President a positive vote on health care or SAC Headquarters at Offutt AFB may end up on the base closure list
  • Nelson saying right up to the bitter end that he was against the Bill, then voting for it after “Clean Face” Reid bribed him with $100 million of taxpayer money and let Nebraska off the Medicaid financial hook, forever
  • Attempted camouflage of totally unwanted provisions of the Bill
  • Kowtowing to special interests
  • Name calling and talking down to the electorate
  • Hiring of felons, Marxists and incompetents for positions at the highest levels of government power
  • Spending, spending and spending, and failure to account to the American people for the money spent
  • Stonewalling on the immigration issue
  • Selling the country down the river in future tax debt for political purposes
  • Lies, misinformation and disinformation

The list appears to be endless.

When you apply for a government grant, you must show what the money will be used for and how the program will operate. The government therefore knows in advance how the money will be used. The University of California at San Diego applied for and received a government grant to pinpoint the GPS coordinates of watering holes along the U.S. – Mexico border, and to provide GPS-equipped cell phones in Mexico to illegals getting ready to cross that border. The theory is that fewer will die from dehydration.

That ticks me off. Our government has been spending our great grandchildren’s money into oblivion with this type of this kind of programs? In the name of economic stimulus and economic recovery? And, the only answer we get out of Congress is that members did not have time to read the bills?

My fellow Americans, there is right now an urgent sense of need for transition back to traditional values.  As patriotic Americans who want the very best for our country, we need to rise to the occasion. We need to look at the countless things we dislike about the way our officials are running our government and we have to promise ourselves and our children and their children to exert every influence we have, both vocally and at the polls, to transform our government back into what it was and should be. We must stand together and fight this battle, because we know in our hearts that, should we fail to act now, this odyssey is not going to have a happy ending.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
