ON THE LINE IN NOVEMBER: INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS AND LIBERTIES

SPECIAL POST

Our individual rights, freedoms and liberties have never been under attack to the extent that the Obama Administration and its cohorts have been engaged in over the past two years. When you look back at what has happened, you cannot help but understand that the “regime” has been quietly setting itself up to be the oppressor against us, the oppressed.

In New York City, there was a community Orthodox Church badly damaged by 9/11 that has been trying desperately to get permission to rebuild ever since. On the other hand, you have a Muslim “Center” that has apparent radical connections and you have a Federal and City government bound and determined to let them build next to Ground Zero against the will of the people.

In two major Supreme Court decisions, it was affirmed that Americans have the right to own and bear arms; yet, the two cities most directly affected by those rulings, Washington D.C. and Chicago; both immediately enacted new laws to circumvent the rulings. In cities, counties and states around the country, new laws are being promulgated by the multitudes. Some are outlandish and ridiculous. Take for example, the proposed California law that would require that all guns stamp shell casings with an identification number when the gun is fired; will that stop gun crime by illegal gun owners? Never mind that the technology is not available except by one manufacturer; that fact would simply be another deterrent to gun ownership.

It is no secret that Obama has a vendetta against Fox News. The Administration has openly threatened Beck and his advertisers and it has derided O’Reilly and Hannity to no end; even Van Susteren has felt the heat. They have constantly been pushing the ideas of “Fair and Balanced” broadcasting that would require broadcasting companies to give equal time to opposing views. In this manner, if they put up a talk show host to counter Rush Limbaugh and no one will listen to the opposing view, Limbaugh has to come off the air. This whole scenario really tinkers with my right to listen to who I want to listen to and about what.

The new Health Care Plan is such an assault upon our individual liberties that, had it been put forth in the early days of this country, its authors would have been charged with sedition.

If we reelect those in Congress who support the Administration in these tactics, we are only providing them with the power and courage to continue. They must be stopped and it is up to us to do it.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

THE DRUMBEAT OF AMERICA

Once upon a time around 236 years ago, our forefathers were saddled with the job of devising a form of government that would provide for balance of power in the legislative, judicial and executive needs of the country while retaining the real and supreme authority for the people and for the states.  From their endeavors, the strongest and most reliable and long-lasting governmental constitution ever devised by man in any country at any time emerged and became the law of our country 234 years ago.

Our Constitution has served us well in this country, far outlasting those of other countries in times of national and world peril, through good times and bad.  Here we are in 2010 with an economy that is in very fragile shape, with national security that is strained to keep us safe, with declining morals and ethical values, with high unemployment, with the old pangs of racism freely flowing and with a government that has gone far astray from the core principles and guidelines set forth in our great document.

We are all very worried in this country about what tomorrow will bring.  If I have heard it once, I’ve heard it thousands of times in the past months:  “I don’t know what or who to believe or what to do.”

The answer, my friends, lies within the great Constitution that our forefathers belabored over for weeks and months trying, as best they might, to devise a document that would stand the tests of time; their strongest challenge was to retain a balance of power between the branches of government while retaining the real power and authority for the people themselves.  What we have is a situation where the Executive Branch of our government is exerting far too much control over the Legislative Branch and we have a Legislative Branch that has turned its backs on the will of the people.

That’s the whole problem in a nutshell.  Now what?

Since the real authority and power of our government lies with the people, it is time for us to exercise our responsibilities and to right the wrongs that are being perpetrated upon us.  We must at once command our Legislative Branch, the Congress, to listen to and obey the will of the people.  Those who have failed to do so must be sanctioned and removed.  It’s just that simple.

We have set ourselves upon the course of restoring the power and authority of our government to the people in accordance with the provisions of our Constitution.  The members of Congress who face reelection in November are scurrying around like nervous Nellies, spinning their misdeeds and trying to convince us that they have acted only upon our concerns and directions.  Yet, we all know that they have not.  If you sit down at the kitchen table and make two lists, one of all the things they have done which are good and we wanted them to do, and another list of the things we were against and did not want them to do, it will quickly remind you of the despicable disregard they have had for what we think and want.  There should be no doubt that they must all be removed, regardless of how much they whine and tremble in fear.

We must prepare ourselves and steel our nerves against the onslaughts of protests that will raise their voices louder and louder in the remaining days before the November elections.  We must be firm in our convictions that the power and authority of our government must be restored to the people.  And, in the dust that will arise on November 2nd, we must rise further to the occasion and begin to prepare ourselves to finish the job in 2012 by removing those who were not up for reelection in 2010 and by resolving the issue that remains in the other branch of our government, the Executive branch.

This is not the time to draw a deep breath.  This is not the time to allow the incessant voices of those who have violated our trust to wear down our resolve. This is the time to stand firmly together, side by side, shoulder to shoulder, and to finish the job we know fully well we simply must do.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

TAX, TAX, TAX

We’ve all known they there is no way Obama could keep his rock solid promise not to raise taxes while he was spending, spending, spending. Now he wants to tax, tax, tax and the Democrats in Congress who are already in trouble over their health care votes are nervous, nervous, nervous. In fact, at least one Democrat is openly saying that they don’t care whether Pelosi likes them or not, they are voting FOR extending the Bush tax cuts for everyone.

What a quagmire the dirty rotten politicians got themselves, and us,  into.

To be fair, as we all know, the economic problems did not start with Obama. Nor did they start with Bush or Clinton; they started with Bush 1. But, Obama has not only continued with bad economic policy, he’s made things so bad that even his buddies on The Hill are hiding from him.

Now, what do we do? How do we fix this mess?

Let’s not forget that we have 17% or 18% of eligible Americans out of work. Yes, almost 10% on unemployment plus those who have exhausted their benefits plus those who have given up and quit looking. Foreclosures are at their highest rate since 1926. The economy, regardless of what the meathead in the White House is saying, is in a slump. Now, we’re out of money.

Is raising taxes the right answer under these circumstances?

If you want to see the economy jump start, employers to start hiring, foreclosures to come to a grinding halt and tax revenues take a startling hike, try these ideas on for size:

1. Cancel the new Health Care Plan.
2. Extend all Bush tax cuts.
3. Repay the treasury the unused stimulus funds.
4. Repay the treasury the repaid TARP money.
5. Extend the tax incentive for buying houses.
6. Put on a two-year tax break for interest on consumer interest charges.
7. Put on a two-year tax incentive for hiring additional employees.

Actually, I’m inclined to think that just firing Obama would be just as good as all of the above seven steps combined. There would be a huge jolt to the economy if we could get implement all eight ideas!

We, the people, did not create this mess. Washington created it. You know it and I know it. The Democrats, through their illustrious leader Barack Hussein Obama, have blown the problem way out of proportion and now they want us to pay for it. I say we should repay their imprudence by voting them all out in November.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

GOP HAS JUST "LOST IT"

SPECIAL POST

Christine O’Donnell took on the political establishment in Delaware and, against all odds, she won. What’s that all about?

Americans are just as ticked off at establishment Republicans who have become part of the problem in Washington as they are at Democrats. For months now, I’ve been pointing out that corruption and cavalier attitudes in Congress transcends both parties, has become a “culture,” and that all longtime incumbents need to be removed.

The Delaware vote exemplified that.

The Republican Party doesn’t get the message. They’re just so beside themselves that O’Donnell picked off Mike Castle, one of their perennial cronies, that they have already announced they will not support her in the November elections.

All of which goes to underscore that, despite their pledges of learning their lesson and being better for America, the Republican Party is still full of assholes.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

THE MOSQUE CHANGES THE PLAYING FIELD

SPECIAL POST

Well, it has been weeks now and the Imam and his cronies show no signs of relenting from their insistence that their sacred “community center” be built next door to the World Trade Center. They have accused us of being anti-Muslim and everything else imaginable. They have sneered at suggestions the “community center” could be built on New York City land a few more blocks down the street.

They squawk to us that we have no right to racially profile them for airport security purposes. They submit to us that they should have the right to prayer in our schools when we do not. I could go on in this vein for the rest of the day and it all adds up to, in short, their position is that we Americans owe them political correctness and they owe us nothing.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I want them as my neighbors anymore.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

IF ONLY THEY COULD TAKE DOWN THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AGAIN?

Nine years and one day ago, this country was terribly divided, religiously and politically and at all levels of society. Congress was asunder, there was no spirit of unity anywhere in this country and Bush had made some economic decisions bound to lead the country into trouble.

Nine years ago this morning, I awakened to a day of horror shared by all of us Americans everywhere. I was working in the casino business in Reno, Nevada, and arrived at work to discover that not one customer was playing slots or blackjack; there were no customers. The employees on duty were all huddled around the televisions at the bar or in the employee lounge, totally engrossed as the events of the day played out. It seems to me that within hours, certainly not more than a day or two, the American flag was waving at the front of businesses and houses throughout the country and we were unified, religiously and politically and at all levels of society; all of us in his great country stood together in mutual shock and anger at the atrocities of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA.

Nine years down the road, we are now divided both religiously and politically and at all levels of society. Congress is once again asunder, (but much worse), there is no spirit of unity in this country and Obama has proven himself to be a much worse President than either Bush could possibly be capable of. There’s a radical Muslim running amok who is bound and determined to build a Mosque at the site of the World Trade Center for the sole purpose of claiming a victory for Al Queda and Bin Laden and we have a President and a Mayor who seem intent on accommodating this venture of evil doing.

In short, our country now stands pulled apart in every direction and, frankly, every person in this country now has someone to hate or despise, whether it is someone of a different religion, another race, another level of society, a different political party, with more money or less money… someone in some category has become more than an acquaintance or associate and they have become an enemy to some extent. Even more ominous, those in the seats of power in Washington have morphed into being the enemy of all of us, refusing to consider our opinions in the polls or on blogs, denigrating us for forming alliances such as the Tea Parties while chastising us for demanding that our individual rights be recognized.

What happened to that spirit of national unity and patriotism that rose from the ashes of 9/11? Where did those days go when our government responded to we, the people, in a moment of national crisis? What have we done with the flags we so proudly displayed in those days, weeks and months?

Why have we allowed our country to deteriorate into a far worse condition than existed nine years and one day ago? What will it take to shock us back into reality and to encourage us to take charge of the situation? Can we see that the things that adversely affect our country today all emanate from the halls of power in Washington?

Do we need another World Trade Center event, or are we capable of rising to the occasion ourselves and of ridding ourselves of the sources of evil that exist in our government? Can we, the people, return our country to the days of national unity and patriotism or do we need another national disaster to make that happen?

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

DEMOCRATS WON’T STUMP ON HEALTHCARE

SPECIAL POST

Remember Nancy Pelosi’s sweet words of advice, that we really wouldn’t know what a great deal we were getting on health care until we read the bill, but that we wouldn’t read it until after it was passed? Remember all of the back-room payoffs and bribes without money that took place in order to pass this “wonderful” legislation? Can’t you still visualize good old Harry and Nancy and Barry slapping each other on their backs in joyful glee because they had just passed this great, terrific bill that was going to save us money and improve our health care?

Here we are, heading pell-mell toward the November elections and you’d think they’d all be rallying around their great piece of creative legislation and leading us on to bigger and greater things that can be accomplished with their re-election and another two years of doing good for America.

Their resounding silence on the subject speaks volumes about it, doesn’t it? As a matter of fact, if you bring the subject up you’ll see their eyes turn quickly away as if to search for a backdoor way out of the room. Just a few months ago, they didn’t give a damn what Americans thought about their dirty deeds. Now, they’re shucking and ducking like cats on a hot tin roof.

When you walk into the polls this November, remember good old Harry, Nancy and Barry and their back-thumping; remember the faces of those treacherous traitors to the American will as the stood proudly behind those three as the Bill was signed into law. Remember the names they called us when we raised hell about the costs and the forthcoming results.

Then, use your vote to let them know how very much you appreciate their sorry asses.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

AMERICANS GET A B+

We are now down to the final 60 days of the 2010 off-year political season and it’s time we took stock of how we have been doing as Americans in paying attention to what has to be done for the future of our country.

I’ve been saying for months that we simply have to get the message to Washington that we are sick and tired of their lying, cheating, manipulating, spending, cavalier and irresponsible ways. We have had enough of their condescending attitudes, their name calling and talk downs. We still don’t want their health care plan that is going to add over $1 trillion to our national debt, raise our insurance premiums, lower our medical coverage and screw our seniors…. A bill that was passed, signed, sealed and delivered in the face of 75% opposition on the part of the citizens.

I pointed out that our problems have been created by all politicians, Republican, Libertarian, Independent and Democrat alike, but the attitude that created the atmosphere in which these misdeeds have been done has been festering around the halls of Washington for several decades. I advised that the “attitude” had become a “culture” in that it had morphed into being an acceptable way of “doing business as usual” in Washington. Then, I suggested that the only way to destroy this “culture” was to remove the incumbents… all of them.

Well, with just 60 days to go before the elections and now that most of the primaries are behind us, how have we done?

The fact is that incumbents have been falling like dominoes. Yes, far too many incumbents remain in the races as we head into November, but we have done a pretty fair job of eliminating a ton of them. By and large, those who remain ran in the primaries against other long-time career politicians who had also become tainted, to varying degrees, by the “culture of corruption.”

We now must begin to concentrate on the remaining task at hand, that of eliminating the remaining incumbents and seizing back the power of our nation’s government from the politicians in Washington and restoring that power to the states and to ourselves.

We can do this job; we have proven that we are up to the challenge. We have stood shoulder to shoulder, elbow to elbow, we have looked the enemy in the eye and we have prevailed. We can continue to learn, to educate ourselves on what is really wrong with our country, to speak out and challenge those who would have us all dry up and blow away… we can grind their misguided souls into submission and we can emerge from this process a stronger nation, ready to meet the challenges of our economy and getting people back to work, ready to repeal health care and to set our country onto a course of our choosing, not theirs.

We can, we must, we will.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
