NOW WHAT - PART TWO

SPECIAL POST

Those of us who believe that Obama should not have been handed a second term now have to decide where the future goes for us.  I said many months ago that this race would be pivotal in deciding what course the nation would take, and it appears to me that the majority has decided they want Socialism.  So, do we throw in the towel, or what?

In light of the decline of the Republican Party since the Reagan years and in light of what has just happened, one can easily predict the 2016 election:  Hillary Clinton will run for the Democrats and the Republicans will put up Jeb Bush or Chris Christy.  I can say with reasonable certainty right now that the Republican Party does not have even the slightest chance of winning in 2016.  There is not one Republican candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton and if there was one, the Republicans would not put that individual on the ticket.

The Republican Party might just as well join the Democrats and make it a one-party system; they have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that they lack the stomach and the leadership to do what is best for the nation.  They, like the Democrats, place politics over reason.

Oh, I suppose one could try and start a new party.  But, who is going to do that?  The Tea Party fell into total disarray when they decided they did not want to be a political party.  Maybe some guy could start a Conservative American Party, but such a party would need to be up and running and fielding candidates in 2014 in order to have any chance of winning the Presidency in 2016.  I just don't see that happening, given the apathy that is going to blanket the nation due to this election.

Surely, those of us who believe in this country, whose roots go back through wars all of the way to the 1600's, are sick to our stomachs today.  One would wonder I suppose, where the country originally started to go wrong.  But, it in the final analysis, where it all started doesn't matter; we're there and there is no turning back.  This election settled all of that.

One might try and stir the ashes and make something positive out of what has just happened, but I regret to say that I no longer have the stomach for it.  The only hope, the real and only hope we have is that the country now proceeds over the fiscal and moral cliff and hits bottom.  We've become like drug addicts, where the only real cure is to hit that bottom, realize that you don't like living on the bottom and then rebuild.

Even that will take decades, if it ever happens.

What a sad time, when the greatness of America has been sacrificed by those who just don't give a damn about anyone else except themselves and what they can extract from the rest of us.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
