U.S.P.O. DEBACLE

SPECIAL POST

Here we go again with another government boondoggle.  The Post Office has announced plans to cut Saturday deliveries.  They claim that will make the difference between a sea of red ink and profitability.

On the surface, it makes sense.  But, when you get into the details you have to scratch your head.  They're only going to cut the delivery of first class mail on Saturdays.  Packages and, presumably, junk mail will still be delivered.  Well, I have to ask: (1) Who is going to deliver this mail, (2) Whose vehicles are they going to use, and (3) How can the result possibly make any real difference on expenses?

Why don't they just require everyone to go to the Post Office to get their mail?  Now, that sounds drastic, but let's bring back MORE post offices and keep them open on Saturdays; that would make them closer to you and more convenient.  Then, end all deliveries except for special delivery and express mail.  Think of the vehicles they would no longer have to buy, refuel and maintain.  Think of the number of employees they could trim.

Then, maybe, would could outsource the remaining jobs to illegal immigrants and really cut costs to the bare bones.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
