Standing Up For The Cops

Call them the cops, the fuzz... whatever.  These are the guys who go out the door every morning leaving behind a spouse, maybe a couple of kids and knowing that they may not ever see their family again because they could lose their life that day saving yours.  These are the guys who show up at 2:00 AM to domestic violence cases, who watch people die from drug overdoses, who see the blood and guts of mayhem on a regular basis.  These are also the guys who deliver babies in the back seats of patrol cars.  

These are the guys who have to have a degree in criminal justice to get their jobs, followed by an intensive Peace Officer Standard Training course and they have to pass a probing psychological exam.  

When you get a venomous, foul-mouthed, meathead of a mayor like De Blasio who rants outrageous accusations that all cops are no-good racists, it's no wonder that the Police Union sends out notice that he'd better not ever show up at any funeral for any cop.  Having a man of such prominence make such accusations shows not only disrespect for the men and women in blue, but encourages civil disobedience and further endangers police lives.  

Law enforcement personnel should be held to high standards; I agree with that.  But, they should also be held in very high esteem.  

If you want t accuse anybody of racism in this country, you have to first start with the White House.

Quit Picking on the Supremes!

Just because the Supreme Court makes a decision you don’t like, that doesn’t make it a bad court. 

 

I agree that many justices in the past have allowed their own agendas or their own biases to influence their decisions, but that’s not the way it is supposed to be. When they do things like that, it’s called being an “activist judge.” They are actually charged with taking the facts of the case before them and then applying the Constitution, without regard for their personal prejudices. 

 

Another rule is that you have to have “standing” to be involved in the case at all. In other words, you yourself must have some bonafide skin in the game, or you can’t be a party to the case.   

 

Trump was able to get three Judges on the Court who have a track record of being “Constitutionalists.” But that doesn’t mean you are always going to agree with their rulings. So it is that, contrary to what the Democrats expected, (they thought the right-leaning Court would always rule against their agenda), rulings thus far have made both political parties both angry and happy. 

 

So far, in my opinion and with the exception of Kagan, Sotomayor and Roberts, rulings from the Court have been Constitutionally sound, whether we like them or not.

Derek Chauvin: My Turn

You can say what you want, and you’re absolutely correct. George Floyd was no angel. George Floyd used drugs. George Floyd had just committed another crime.

 

Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes. During that time, Floyd quit struggling and passed out. Bystanders began to scream for Chauvin to let up, but Chauvin kept on kneeling… and George Floyd died.

 

George Floyd may have had enough drugs in him at the time to kill him. But, the threat to life he posed had ended long before Derek Chauvin stopped the kneel.

 

Just as you don’t shoot someone when they no longer pose a threat, you don’t kneel on their neck after they become unconscious. 

 

The verdict was just. Those who burn and riot in Floyd’s name, however, are terrorists and need to be treated as such.

The George Floyd Bullshit

If you pull out a gun and shoot your neighbor in the head and a medical examiner later rules that the neighbor had a massive heart attack, does that mean you skate free?

 

That’s the argument being put forth by Derek Chauvin’s attorneys. According to testimony, George Floyd would have died anyway due to his use of Fentanyl and coke.  Therefore, Chauvin is not guilty, they insist. 

 

The plain simple fact of the matter is this: Floyd was gasping for air, screaming that he could not breathe.  Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck until Floyd died, although bystanders were screaming for him to stop.  Whether or not Floyd would have died anyway is really anyone’s guess.    

 

Now, I’m not enamored with George Floyd or his ilk. His past criminal history speaks for itself. But what Chauvin did was cold-blooded murder, and he needs to pay the penalty for it, just as surely as the Antifa and BLM thugs who destroy property and lives need to pay for their misdeeds.

Executive Orders Are Not Law

The way Joe Biden and the Democrat Mafia would have you believe, an Executive Order issued by them is the law of the land, which you had better damned-well comply with. Well, that’s simply not true. 

 

Laws are promulgated as Bills only by the Congress or a State Legislature; once signed by the President or the Governor, they become law. The courts, whether State or Federal, interpret the laws and apply the penalties for violation or the mandates contained therein.  A court interpretation will have a bearing on how the law is applied.  Where a matter of dispute not covered by a law comes before a court and the court decides the matter, that decision becomes precedent and acts as the law until overturned by a higher court or replaced by a law. That’s the essence of it. 

 

So, just what is an Executive Order?  

 

The President is charged with applying and administering the laws.  He has an inherent power to issue orders to his agencies and staff to accomplish that responsibility. Those “Executive Orders only apply to government officials and agencies under his control. So, when he issues an Executive Order ordering all flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of somebody, Joe Blow in Tuscaloosa, Utah can ignore it.

 

In the same vein, when Uncle Joe issues an Executive Order prohibiting the possession of an AR-15, only government employees or agencies have to comply.  If you choose to comply, that’s up to you.  If Uncle Joe wants to make you comply, he has to ask Congress to bass a Bill, he has to sign it… and it then becomes law... 

 

Unless the federal court system rules that law to be unconstitutional. 

 

So there, Uncle Joe! Take your far-reaching, zealous Executive Orders and stick ‘em where the sun don’t shine.

Playing With Fire

The impending impeachment trial of President Trump has all of the earmarks of igniting a flashpoint… creating a huge explosion.  Upwards of 75 million Americans who voted for Trump are convinced that the election was a fraud.  While unsure as to who perpetrated the fraud, Democrats or foreign actors, citizens are convinced that the Biden-Harris team is illegitimate. 

 

They are also of the opinion that the “riot” of January 6^th had nothing to do with the peaceful protestors who showed up to support their President, President Trump.  The fact that the Democrats have seized upon this horrible event to blame Trump and his supporters is a direct insult to their American patriotism. 

 

The Article of Impeachment has been drawn and passed by the House; the Senate must therefore Constitutionally conduct an impeachment trial. This is not a criminal trial, but a political trial designed to remove an incumbent from office.  He is already out of office; therefore, the matter is now moot.  Trump’s attorneys have the duty to move that the trial be quashed on that basis.  Should the presiding officer, in this case Patrick Leahy, refuse to do so and proceed with a trial, Trump’s lawyers should immediately request the Supreme Court to intervene. 

 

But should this mockery of a case proceed to trial and should the President be impeached, Americans have every right to raise holy hell, and I forecast that they will. The Democrats seem bound and determined to light the fire.
