The news floating out of The Hill over the weekend was that the House is about to come back from vacation and pass a new health care bill; it's been a huge rush since their last attempt failed but, by golly, they're going to get it done this time.
Well, I hope they get it right, because... if they don't get it right this time, they're all going to be toast.
When you go out to buy a new car, you don't buy the first one you see simply because you need a new car. You know it's going to be one huge investment that has to last along time, and you are careful to research, look, try, and even to talk about cars with your family, neighbors or friends. You consider such things as cosmetics, horsepower, mileage, toys, insurance costs, payments and where you're going to park it. You would certainly spend more time on this decision that the House spent on the last health care bill under the less-than-stellar leadership of Paul Ryan.
Around 80% of Americans said that the last attempt sucked big-time. From what I've heard over the weekend, the House has made a few "tweaks" to that bill and they're going to put it on the table again. Once again, just like the last time, they're not doing what we want; we want a new car, not a used one with with a crappy paint job.
If that is indeed what they come back with, if they have the temerity to do that number on the American people, there's going to be an uprising and outright rebellion in this country the likes of which has not been seen since the Civil War.
