SPECIAL POST
With one exception that we know of, all of the participants in yesterday's debate crammed for it. They had associates ask them questions they thought they might be asked in the actual debate, they gave instant answers and then everyone sat around and discussed how that answer would sound on stage, whether or not it was "politically correct," and if there wasn't some better answer.
Then, they got on stage last night and gave their canned answers to the questions.
This leaves the audience to wonder what the candidates really think about the issues, how much knowledge they really have about the subject matters and whether or not they are the genuine article. We know from immediate past experience that smooth talkers don't necessarily make good leaders. But, the format of the debate sets us up to like those who can spin the most, give polished answers and toss in a few timely and glib remarks of their own.
I look at the whole thing as being nothing short of an old time carney show, but I'm sure the advertising revenues and the ratings for FOX were out of this world.
That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
