I most sincerely think New York's Mayor De Blasio is a despicable cad and prejudiced against cops; he's made that clear by his public statements. And I likewise think that New York Police Officers have every right to be angry at him and to distrust him. I even support their right to turn their backs on him... but not at funerals.
Funerals are about coming together, setting differences aside for the moment and paying last respects to the deceased, his family and his friends. Using a funeral as a platform to make a political statement or to fan the fire of disagreement as an affront to the supposed dignity and purpose of the funeral itself.
Shame on them.
