Arizona became the first state in the nation to pass a law requiring high school students to pass a citizenship test on civics before they can graduate. Holy cow!
Now, depending on who is teaching the course and how it is taught, I would give a solid thumbs up on this one. The vast majority of people in this country who went to high school after 1969 don't have the slightest idea of how our government really functions and is supposed to function. Therein lies one of the several problems at the root of our faltering government.
Wouldn't it be great if you could ask a 20-year-old who the Chief Justice is without getting "Batman" as an answer?
