HOW MUCH FREEDOM DO YOU WANT TO GIVE UP?

Not only do we have constant threats to our country from the Middle East and North Korea, but we are now obviously faced again with the threat of terrorist activities on our homeland, whether they be domestic or foreign.  The government talking heads are quick to suggest that we are going to have to improve our security procedures in America and to be prepared to give up some of our freedoms. 

Why? 

Why do we need to become prisoners in our own country?  We do we need to give up our rights in exchange for security?  Where I come from is where my ancestors in this country came from; my freedoms and liberties are so dear to me that I am willing to fight to preserve them for myself and my posterity.  This American is not going to roll over and play dead for anyone. 

There are other ways to deal with this.  It starts with being more selective on whom we let into this country and under what circumstances they can come.  What’s wrong with taking a good, thorough look at entrants who are not already citizens?  It continues by exercising the right to expel non-Americans for anti-American activities and for providing an avenue to strip a person of his citizenship for un-American activities.  We need to bring the teachings of history and civics back into the classroom and, I think we need to require two years of service to our country in the military or peace corps in order to instill American patriotism. 

We also need to educate ourselves in how terrorists do their work so that we can be constantly on a citizen’s alert, keeping our eyes and ears open for signs of trouble.  The very last thing we need to do is to strip Americans of their rights to bear arms. 

I do not want to give up any freedom and I’ll be damned if I will willingly do so.  That’s not what being an American means to me.

BENGHAZI & BOSTON

Both cities start with the letter “B.”  It’s 4,825.3 air miles from Boston to Benghazi and takes approximately 10 hours and 1 minute in flight time.  Both cities have been the scene of horrific terrorist acts within the last eight months.  In both cases, the President promised a full-scale effort to bring those responsible to justice.  It then appears that he shut the investigation into Benghazi down and started to mislead and stonewall the American public. 

As this post is being created, it is too early to determine whether the Boston bombings were the result of domestic or foreign terrorism.  My gut feeling is that it was the result of foreign terrorism. 

The whole nation is turning to Boston and demanding answers.  We want to know who did it, why they did it and what we are going to do about it.  In Benghazi, we had an ambassador and three employees savagely massacred on American soil at a foreign consulate, with an unknown number of others injured. 

Why is there no outrage about Benghazi?

MORE MASS VIOLENCE --- NO GUNS INVOLVED

Like the recent stabbing by Dylan Quick of students at Lone Star College in Texas last week, the horrible terrorist-style explosions in Boston yesterday and the resulting carnage serve as stark evidence that what I have been saying for several weeks is true: gun violence is not the problem; violence in general is the problem.  Quick also appears to be a nut case, having dreams about stabbing a lot of victims for several days before the attack occurred.  

It certainly appears to me that this Boston attack was a terrorist attack, but it is unclear as to whether it was a domestic attack or foreign terrorism.  In either event, I think I can safely say that the perpetrator(s) were also nut cases to some degree.  

Obviously, no form of gun control would have prevented the Boston event just as no form of gun control would have prevented the Texas stabbings.  Where the possession of explosives without a license is illegal, so is the possession of a knife with the intent to do bodily harm.  The fact that these individuals acted anyway underscores my argument: we need to be addressing the causes of the violence and taking steps to remove or mitigate those causes. 

These concerted and unconstitutional efforts at "gun control" are an outright sham.

ARE YOU LOST?

I was taking a Webinar regarding Human Relations and they were talking about statistics and using those statistics to devise a benefits program.  Of course, the subject of data came up and all of the sources of data that are available for us to "mine" in planning benefits.  

It was then that it dawned on me that we have been transformed from being human beings with feelings, capabilities and individuality into a simple byte or two of data.  Wherever we go, whatever we do, the companies and organizations we interface with consider us to be nothing more than a statistic.  We're no longer "George;" we're simply one of 545,129 white, Protestant, retired, males living in New Mexico.  

Businesses and government agencies don't care about what we think or do; they react only to what the statistics say.  Hence, when you have an issue and you call, write or email to get it resolved, the company has the attitude that even if they lose your business, they will grow at a rate of .347% tomorrow; so why should they treat you like they value your patronage?  Surely, your spouse must know that there are 43.9 people out there in the country exactly like you, so what's the incentive to keep you happy as an individual? 

Maybe that explains why I had salt in my coffee this morning. But, I really think that we need to get back to being a touchy, feely society where we have care and concern for each other; that probably would be a good place to start when it comes to dealing with the issue of violence in our society.

WORLD PEACE IN IMMINENT DANGER?

The news oozing out of Washington like a really bad turd late Thursday, something the liberal Obama-controlled media and press is surely to downplay, is that… GASP…the North Koreans do indeed have a nuclear weapon small enough to be launched from one of their missiles.  WHAT A DISCOVERY!  WHAT A SHOCK!  I said it in my blogs months ago.  Obviously, the White House pays more attention to Rush Limbaugh than they do to me.   

But, this is no laughing matter.  There’s Iran. 

We know that Israel has some very sophisticated intelligence and that Netanyahu has been warning that Iran is closing in on having a nuclear weapon.  We know that Iranians were in North Korea for that country’s last test.   We know that U.N. observers sent to Iran have all concluded that Iran is much further along with its programs than meets the eye.  We know that Iran suddenly doubled its production of weapons-grade uranium in recent months.  We know that Netanyahu has been insisting that Iran will be nuclear by this summer. 

Could it be that the last nuclear test by North Korea was actually an Iranian bomb? 

In any event, it doesn’t take a nuclear scientist to arrive at the conclusion that the Iranians are much closer to nuclear capability than “at least another year,” as the White House insists.  And here we sit, like bumps on a log. 

Leaders of both North Korea and Iran are unstable to say the least.  Both countries despise Americans.  The situation in North Korea is tense enough that the slightest misstep will most certainly result in war.  We simply have to know that we are going to wake up any day now to the headlines, “IRAN HAS NUKES.” 

If North Korea and Iran both decide to go to war at the same time, just what are we going to do?  Go play golf?  Get on Air Force One and fly off on another apology tour?  Invite someone over for a beer in the Rose Garden?  Any Past President, (except Carter), would be firmly in control at the White House, closely monitoring events and keeping the American public informed.  He would be holding intelligence briefings on a daily basis and meeting with top military officials to hammer out options.  

Our President is a jackass, and this is a very dangerous time.

HORROR IN NEW YORK: GUN CONFISCATION BEGINS!

Erie County, New York has stepped into it big time.  David Amherst received a notice that, based on the grounds of mental health, his gun license was being suspended and he had to turn in his weapons.  He had briefly taken a medication on the prohibited list months ago, so thought he'd better comply, which he did.  Late Wednesday, the county released a statement blaming the New York State Police for giving them bad information regarding the suspension of a pistol permit and demand to surrender firearms sent to Amherst resident David Lewis.  

They had the wrong guy.  No doctor had ever turn him in. 

The story, however, does not end there.  It is not clear, since he had taken a drug on the prohibited list, whether he can get his guns back or not.  He has no arrest record and is a model citizen.  There does not appear to be any mechanism for lifting the license suspension.  

He's suing.  

I hope he gets $1 billion.  The bastards who did this to him should all lose their damned jobs. THIS IS WHAT OUR COUNTRY HAS BECOME???

WORLDWIDE RELIGIOUS WARS LOOMING?

We are already aware of the agenda of radical Islamic Jihadists to rid the planet of  "non-believers." Muslims are either shunning or persecuting Christians in Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan,  Somalia, the Maldives, Mali, Iraq, Yemen, Eritrea, Syria, Sudan and Nigeria.  Religion of any kind is not tolerated in North Korea.  The problem is exacerbated by the failure of Western nations to address the issue. 

Here in America, the persecution of Christians and Jews is in its infancy.  The radical left tries to  chip away at the religious establishment on a daily basis by eroding religious displays in public, removing Christian prayers in school while tolerating Muslim prayer, and attacking religious freedoms and rights in every forum and in every corner of the country where it can get a foothold.  

Christians seem content at the moment to "turn the other cheek."  But, the day is likely to come when Christians and Jews alike will draw the line and start an inevitable push-back; it remains to be seen whether or not this will lead to armed confrontation, but history tends to confirm that such a scenario is not beyond the realm of probability.  One thing is certain: the consistent divisiveness of our President in America is only going to fan hatreds, religious animosities being only part of a growing and simmering pot of American discontent.

I DEMAND KNIFE CONTROL

The knife attacks on 14 people on a Lone Star College campus near Houston yesterday underscores what I've been insisting on for years:  We need knife control!  Knives kill people!  No, no, no... don't even go there, you bogus, left-winged scalawags; don't try and tell me it's a people problem.   It's a knife problem and we have to control it now. People have been killed with knives for much too long in our history; in fact, with the exception of wars, more people have been killed with knives than guns. 


For starters:

1. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to possess a knife
2. Background checks are required on all knife purchases
3. No knife that has been sharpened, or has a sharpened point or serated edges with a blade longer than two inches can be sold to anyone unless the knife is on the list of approved knives
4. Knives longer than two inches that have been sharpened, or that have a sharpened point or serated edges, shall be known as "Assault Knives" and banned in the United States 
5. Knives can no longer be sold as part of a "Flatware Set;" they must be sold separately and subject to this law
6. Purchasers of knives must have taken and passed a "Knife Safety Course" within the previous two years in order to purchase a knife
7. No knife handle can have a thumb-hole in it
8. Knife blades sold as replacement parts must be able to bend in half if pressed against any solid object
9. Knives with both sides of the blade sharpened or that have more than one blade are prohibited
10. No knife can be purchased on the Internet
11. No knife can be transported across state lines
12. No knife can be transferred from one person to another without the transaction being registered
13. Any owner of any knife must carry liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1 million

God forbid anyone with sense should be called upon to voice an opinion in this matter.

OUTRAGE IN NEW YORK

Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, the purported son-in-law and spokesman of Osama Bin Laden, is in New York City beginning legal proceedings for his participation in the bloody massacre of thousands of Americans, including the events of 9/11.  That this bloodthirsty terrorist should be allowed in the United States at all, let alone to be allowed close to the hallowed ground of the World Trade Center, is an embarrassment and an outrage; in any other time, he would be held at Guantanamo or some other detention facility and charged with war crimes. 

Our President arranged for this transfer of Sulaiman Abu Ghaith against the known wishes of Americans, who were outraged at his prior attempts to bring 9/11 terrorists to trial in New York City shortly after he took office in his first term.  

The real outrage should not be due to the fact that Sulaiman Abu Ghaith is here, but that our President doesn't give a damn what we think or want and he knows it; that's why he snuck the s.o.b. into the country.

WHY MCCAIN LOST

This is obviously about four years too late, but it underscores a point I need to make.

Senator John McCain, 2008 Presidential Candidate,  expressed bewilderment on CBS’ “Face the Nation” that GOP Senators Cruz, Lee and Paul would filibuster gun control legislation. “I don’t understand it,” McCain said. “The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.”  

Obviously, he never took a Civics course, either.  The purpose of the United States Senate is, my fellow Americans, to do the will of the people.  Like the majority of people in Washington today, he never got that message.  Some of these long-time politicians get so encrusted with their own power that they think the country could not exist without them.  They do not understand that under our Constitution, they would not exist without us.

WHY EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A GUN

Now we have public prosecutors, prison bosses, school children, cops and movie watchers being shot and killed at what seems to be an almost daily basis.  Some of the shooters have been mental basket cases, some have been those with vendettas.  From what I have been able to determine, about 99.9% of the shooters had no legal right to be in possession of a gun.  In virtually all cases, the victims were defenseless; cops who have been killed predominantly have been in a position where their sidearms were still in their holsters.  The rising incidence of shootings against law enforcement officials in-and-of-itself suggests to me that the killers are becoming more and more brazen; as I write this post, I learn of a shooting inside a police station in Mississippi. 

Only a fool would argue that if guns were illegal, those killings would not have taken place.  

At the same time, we have FBI statistics which reflect beyond a reasonable doubt, a direct correlation between the number of people owning guns in a community and the rate of violent crime occurring in that community.  The higher the percentage of gun owners by law-abiding citizens, the lower the rate is of violent crime of any type. 

Then we have the utterly naive argument that, if guns were all confiscated and made illegal, there couldn't be any more gun killings in the country.  Let me remind you that illegal drugs, illegal immigrants... all types of illegal stuff cross our borders every day and there is not a damned thing we can do to stop it. 

Now then, I have left the arguments about the sports of hunting and target shooting aside.  What I am suggesting here is that everyone in the country go and buy a comfortable sidearm and learn how to clean it, take care of it and shoot it.  Consider it not to be a weapon of violence, but a weapon of defense.  You can pick up almost any newspaper in the country on any given day and read about some crime that was thwarted because the intended victim or some good Samaritan in the immediate vicinity had a gun.  

Registering guns, requiring background checks, limiting the number of rounds in a magazine or defining the style of a legal gun are not going to stop the shootings.  We all know fully well that mobsters had fully automatic machine guns and the ownership of those guns was illegal.  Someone bent on killing is not going to have any problem acquiring a gun in this country whether the ownership of the weapon is legal or not.  

We all have the right to self-defense.  We have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms without infringement.  That right was guaranteed under the Second Amendment at a time when the same types of crimes were being committed.  We have every right to join the NRA and form an association with other like-minded Americans.  The argument that times have changed is as bogus as a three-dollar bill.  The best way to curtail these crimes is to increase gun ownership among law-abiding citizens.

DEFENSELESS IN AMERICA

In recent days we have heard about a Prosecuting Attorney and his innocent wife in Texas being slaughtered in his house in Texas.  Evidence tends to show he was running inside the house to get his hands on a gun.  Then there was his assistant who was shot and killed a few weeks ago.  And then, we get to the dozens of cases every week across this country where a criminal threatened the safety of a citizen, the citizen was armed and the story ended with a suspect shot or captured after fleeing.  

Take Port Angeles, Washington, where a mean looking man had been spotted in a yard the previous morning.  The next day, the man tried to force his way into the home; the home owner, intending to protect himself and his 16-year-old daughter, grabbed a 12 gauge shotgun and held the threatening man at bay until police arrived  

Obama and his cohorts want to disarm us?  If the bad guy has an AR-15 and is shooting, they want us to lay low until the threat blows over, or maybe to take care of the threat with a pellet gun?  You know our government as well as I do; even just one tiny step toward gun control will lead to gun confiscation.  Do we really want the only guys in the neighborhood in the possession of sufficient gun power to be the criminals, while the the cops are 15 minutes away?  

Speak up to your Congressional delegate today.  The vote is coming.

ANOTHER GUN CONTROL GIMMICK

Democrats in Congress are now pushing for a national requirement that guns owners carry liability insurance or be subject to a $10,000 fine. 

I can just see it now, the feds trying to get John Holmes to pay a $10,000 fine.  How about Adam Lanza?  He's dead; are they going to collect from him?  You want ME, who carries a concealed weapon wherever he goes, (just in case), to pay the costs of John Holmes or Adam Lanza and their gun rampages?  At the same time, you expect the thug who stole a gun and is on his way to rob the local liquor store, to stop and purchase an insurance policy on the way?  

Why don't these idiots just shut their flappin' gums and start addressing the real issues of violence in this country?  Are they so obsessed with confiscating my weapons that they are willing to let the real criminals in this country continue to do their dirty deeds? 

Why WON'T these numbskulls address what happened at Benghazi?

OBAMA'S BIRTH ISSUE COMING TO A HEAD

An appeal has been filed with the Arkansas State Supreme Court which is led by newly elected Chief Justice Roy Moore who has previously expressed doubt about Obama’s qualification for office. Two individuals with standing are asking the Court to require the Arkansas Secretary of State to verify that all candidates on the state’s 2012 ballot were eligible to serve.  Attorney Larry Klayman, founder of the Washington, D.C. watch-dog Judicial Watch and now head of Freedom Watch, filed the appeal Tuesday with the Alabama Supreme Court, asking for oral arguments.  

In his brief, Klayman says “credible evidence and information from an official source” was presented to Secretary of State Beth Chapman before the election indicating Obama might not have been qualified for the Oval Office.  The complaint argues Chapman failed her constitutional duty as secretary of state to verify the eligibility of candidates. The Constitution stipulates that "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."  This Article would suggest that election officials have a fiduciary responsibility to the citizens of the United States to verify that the person seeking the office meets the qualifications; without the ability to verify, the requirement is meaningless.  

Obama has steadfastly refused to provide a legitimate birth certificate or to allow anyone to have access to any official school or other records which might possibly be used to verify his qualifications; in fact, he has spent millions of his own dollars to prevent anyone from having access to those records.  Should Chapman be unable to obtain the verification of qualification, all votes for President Obama in Arkansas could be declared null and void.  I don't know the math, as to whether or not that would be enough votes to give the White House to Romney; I doubt it, but other states could then take Arkansas' lead.  

I believe the country should have put this issue to rest long before allowing Obama to run for a second term.  We, the people, have every right to know the truth, one way or the other.

This coming from a TeaParty.org post: "The president has used his executive powers to bolster the national background check system, jumpstart government research on the causes of gun violence and create a million-dollar ad campaign aimed at safe gun ownership."  

On the surface, that sounds innocuous enough.  But, couple that revelation with  this statement from loudmouth Joe Biden on the subject of gun control last week: "Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning." 

Now, let's add on Queen Nancy's proclamation: "I believe whatever passes in the Congress now will not be the end of the day for this issue."  She has vowed to use every procedural trick in the book to get Obama's gun control measures through Congress.  

Finally, let's factor in the illustrious John Morse, Democrat leader of the Colorado State Senate who could give a rat's ass what his constituents think...He has publicly said he just ignores them and tells his fellow State Senators to do the same because---he doesn’t like their stand on gun control.  

Pundits say over and over again that it's about "gun safety."  None of these magnanimous proposed new laws is going to affect gun safety one iota.  Some of them even acknowledge that fact.  So, it's really about "gun control."  Their objective here is to force some measure of gun control into law and get it upheld by the Supreme Court so they can establish their contention that the 2nd Amendment doesn't mean what it says. With that ruling under their belt, they intend to confiscate all guns in the country.  

That's not conjecture; that's a well-established fact.
