SPECIAL POST
Last week's ruling boils down to a dangerous position: yes, the government can tax you for failing to do something. If you don't buy insurance, you pay a tax.
That ruling opens the door for a whole slew of taxes aimed at regulating personal behavior, and one of them that is already being actively discussed is the "fat tax." That's right; if you weigh more than 10% above your recommended weight or have too much body fat, the government will add 1% to your annual income tax burden. Using too much energy to heat or cool your home? Add another 1% or 2%. Won't cut back on your annual mileage, add another 1%. Have too many children, tack on some more points. Write a blog critical of the administration, and that could get you a 5% penalty.
Yes, folks, we're headed back to square one... taxation without representation. Without representation? Yes, our Democrats in Congress don't give a damn about how much you pay in taxes or whether you like it or not. Tax this, tax that, tax, tax, tax. They now have clear sailing to do whatever they want and there's not a damned thing you can do about it.... unless you have enough guts to vote them out in November. But, be careful; there could be a tax for voting out incumbents.
That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
