The Obama Administration has given a former Illinois director of ACORN operations $445 million to use for providing“struggling” Illinois homeowners mortgage assistance, a Judicial Watch investigation has found. Joe McGavin will go from operating a corrupt leftist community group
that’s banned by Congress through receiving federal funding, to controlling
over $445 million in U.S. taxpayer funds, according to the WASHINGTON TIMES. The money is part of a $7.6
billion Treasury Department program to help the “unemployed or
substantially underemployed” make their mortgage payments.
Some 172 former ACORN chapters are still active under differing names; two are receiving Federal funding which is a direct violation of a Federal ban. One group is currently behind a movement to get over 500,000 welfare recipients to vote for Obama in New York. Officials with the revamped ACORN office in New York -- operating as New
York Communities for Change -- have fired staff, shredded reams of
documents and told workers to blame disgruntled ex-employees for leaking
information in an effort to explain away a FoxNews.com report last week
on the group’s involvement in Occupy Wall Street protests, according to
sources.
