In a democracy, you expect every vote in an election to be counted equally. You don’t expect anyone to stuff the ballot box, harvest votes, throw legally cast ballots in the garbage, or to rig an election machine. If or when those things do occur, you expect the perpetrators to pay a stiff penalty and you expect tightening of the election rules to further reduce the risk of fraud.
You also expect your elected representatives to stand up and demand fair elections.
What you don’t expect is for your elected representatives to refuse to clean up voting registration records… or to get up and walk out in order to avoid voting on issued designed to ensure that elections are conducted above board. Texas Democrats, however, fought tooth and nail against that state’s attempt to add rules and regulations to further guarantee fair procedures. Faced with the reality that they were on the wrong side of the issue and were going to lose, they got up and walked out, thereby breaking the necessary quorum and denying a vote on the new rules.
If you’re a Democrat and this is what you believe is how your representatives should act in America, you belong in a different country.
That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION respectfully submitted.
