SPECIAL POST
As you know, there is a move afoot to deny those who have participated in the primaries and caucuses by scrubbing the entire slate of potential nominees at an "open," but much contested Republican convention. More than one party elitist has been heard to say, "They [the members] think they have the right to choose the candidate, but the party officials have that right. Read the constitution and by-laws."
Over the weekend, several party "voices" including Alex Castellanos ventured forth to say that Paul Ryan is who the delegates really want.
This exactly the same tactic the hierarchy used in 2008 to pick John McCain against the wishes of the Republican base and in 2012 to pick Mitt Romney... again against the wishes of the party base.
The difference is that this time, totally fed up with the refusal of Republicans in Congress to listen to the will of the people, the party members are not going to sit still any longer and allow democracy to take a back seat in the election and governmental processes. Such a move will mean the actual end of the Republican Party; it will cease to exist and it will implode. I, for example, will not vote for Ryan or Cruz; I will sit at home first.
The problem here is that those in charge of the party know that, but they seem bound and determined to exercise their autonomous authorities anyway.
That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
