SPECIAL POST
Several times over the last few days we have heard the proposition that if Iraq won't help themselves against I.S.I.S., then we can't help them either. In other words, if the Iraqis drop their weapons and run when they get into a fight with ISIS, that's their problem, not ours. The inference in this line of thinking is that the only reason we are providing weapons and air power there is that we want to protect Iraq.
I beg to differ.
Strictly taken, if this is only about saving the nation of Iraq and if Iraqi's won't step up to the plate and defend themselves, I could agree with the proposition that it's not up to us to carry their battle for them. However, the truth is that this is not about Iraq... it's about the ISIS agenda.
If ISIS is allowed to defeat the Iraqi's and to establish a Caliphate there, then ISIS gains the status of being a nation and the character of the battle between radical Islam and the "infidels" changes. Additionally, allowing ISIS to win in Iraq will draw tens of thousands of more radicals into their ranks. With swelling bank accounts, increasing troop strength, the acquisition of more weapons, ISIS will morph into the most formidable enemy the world has faced since Hitler.
Let's not kid ourselves and let's not allow the meatheads of the world take our focus away from the real facts. Iraq is about us vs. ISIS, and we need to start acting accordingly before the battle comes here.
That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
