SPECIAL POST
When the quake and tsunami hit, communications were also cut, which meant that plant operators had limited access to discuss problems with upper management. You’ll want to read the rest of the story to learn what was going on behind the scenes and why we got mixed messages: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/31/world/asia/31workers.html
Readings on Radiation Network monitors continued to be slightly elevated across the country through yesterday. Readings this morning are a mixed bag, some back to normal, others remaining elevated. One reader mentioned that the “safe” levels established by the EPA may be moved higher; it is already higher than the level established by many nations. Why?
The news coming from the site is not good this morning, either. Levels of radiation in seawater are now more than 4,000 times normal. High radiation has been discovered in at least one location 25 miles from the site, while Japanese authorities retain the evacuation at 12 miles. Radiation has been discovered in Washington state milk, again at “safe” levels. I need to say that I predicted this when the news first came out that radiation “might” reach the U.S. but would never get into milk.
I don’t want to be a merchant of panic, but you need to be reminded that our government has never told us the truth about the dangers of radiation, and THIS government doesn’t tell the truth about anything. So, again, you need to keep aware…we have the possibility of plutonium reaching the U.S. at any hour.
That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
