ACORN STEPS INTO DEEP DUNG

SPECIAL POST

Acorn is suing the undercover video team that broke the news on their illegal activities. The group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland requires two-party consent to create sound recordings. The lawsuit also contends that the two employees shown in the Baltimore video sufered severe emotional distress after the videos became public.

In the meantime, the I.R.S. announced that it will no longer include ACORN in its volunteer tax assistance program that offered free tax advice to about 3 million tax filers this spring.

ACORN is short for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, and has apparently been involved in a multitude of questionable and criminal activities, some involving politics, for several years.

The question is: Will the thugs get off again? Does the fact that ACORN's official Baltimore Office was obviously involved in illegal activities get tossed out the window over a legal technicality with the video taping? Should those who video taped have to pay a penalty for doing the rest of the nation a great big favor? Should the low-income tax filers who sought ACORN's help on the up-and-up now pay the penalty of not having access to free tax-filing help because ACORN screwed up?

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
