WE ARE IN CHARGE HERE

Michael Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, defended his record January 3rd at a forum with four rivals who charged him with mismanagement and said the committee faces a major task of rebuilding its finances and credibility.   Steele claimed that it was he who was responsible for the results of the midterm elections in which Republicans made major gains, including a takeover of the House.

"My record stands for itself," he said. "We won.  I was asked to win elections.  I was asked to raise money - $192 million over the last two years.  We won.  The fact that we're here right now celebrating that win, I think, says a lot about the record."

Here’s another damned politician, a Republican, essentially saying that the people of this country had nothing to do with the election.  It wasn’t about us standing up and demanding accountability and responsibility in Washington, it was about Steele saving the country by getting more Republicans elected?

Let me say it succinctly: Mr. Steele, you didn’t have one damned thing to do with it.  Nancy Pelosi could have been chair of the RNC and the results would have been the same. We’ve had it. We’re sick and tired of the bullshit politics going on in Washington and we’re doing something about it.   And, we’re not running around taking credit for it on a personal basis either; we did it together, firmly standing side by side, and we’re not done yet.  It’s as if the Republicans, who have been almost as much to blame for the idiocracy in Washington as the Democrats have, have suddenly been stricken with sainthood.

Meanwhile, the returning Senate Democrats have joined forces in declaring that they flat-out don’t give a damn what the American people want, they will not allow repeal of Obamacare. We are taking notes about who says what and how they vote and there will be more retribution in November of 2012; you can bank on that. Has everyone in Washington taken leave of their senses? Didn’t they get the real message? It appears that the only ones who did get the message are now on the outside looking in.

Here’s some news that hasn’t been printed: Steven Rattner, who helped lead the Obama administration's auto industry overhaul, has agreed to pay $10 million to settle influence-peddling allegations in New York.  Oh, you didn’t know about that?  The print and media of this country are under the control of the Obama Administration.  The news of the day is being filtered to us and it has been that way for much too long.  Don’t they get the message, either?   Maybe when their bottom lines see red ink they will get the right idea, and several of them are heading there already.

Truly, this is an historical time.  We have massive debt, a health care plan we do not want, an oversized and non-responsive government, an economy that is in the tank, the threat of World War III, declining international stature… and an American populace that is fed up with all of it.

WE are the ones in charge here. This is OUR country.  The sooner they get the message, the better.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
