OBAMA'S ATTEMPT AT ABRUPT CHANGE OF NATIONAL FOCUS

Amidst a growing clamor over his risky, unproven and costly economic policies and reckless spending, and while faced with now sagging support that is beginning to transcend party lines, President Obama has resorted to an old and well-proven political trick: rattle the sabre of war.

In a lengthy Friday morning statement, Obama announced that he's going after Al Queda in Pakistan and Afghanistan and he's going to throw $1.5 billion a year at the project for the next five years to bolster Pakistan's economy and improve its infratsurcture. And, he made a lengthy case out of his 17,000 man increase of military troops in Afghanistan, as well as his "total" support of General Petraeus.

At the outset, you have to rally around the Prez and agree that we have a big and brewing problem that must be faced. Here's my problem with all of this hoopla:

There are hotels in Las Vegas that cost $1.5 billion to build. $1.5 billion is .015% of a trillion. It doesn't even measure up to the terminology, "drop in the bucket" when it comes to the real costs of what needs to be accomplished in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Petraeus asked for 30,000 troops, not 17,000. In short, Obama's flap off at the gums amounts to nothing more than penny ante horseshit.

So, why the dog and pony show?

Could it be that the Prez is trying to deflect mounting criticism of his domestic agendas and policies by "creating" a new emergency....deflecting focus from the economy to focus on Al Queda? Is he throwing out a "red herring?" Does he want the fox to chase down a new rabbit trail?

If Obama can pull this sham off, he'll make Houdini look like an amateur.

What is coming out and will continue to come out in ugly ways, is that Washington, (Republicans and Democrats alike), has been so busy in so many corrupt ways that the bastard politicians have collectively sold the country down the economic drain. We have just seen the tip of the iceberg and I most sincerely hope that we will get up the anger and the courage necessary to throw all of the bums out and many of them into jail. But, at the same time we must have the wisdom to preserve our Constitution because, the failure is not in the Constitution, it is in the people we have recklessly allowed to tarnish it.

I have written many lines that put the blame for all of this squarely in the laps of the American citizens for failing to be alert to what is going on in Washington. Freedom and democracy cannot survive unless we are willing to assume the responsibility for vigilance that goes along with them.

AMERICANS MADE HUGE MISTAKE IN NOVEMBER

Those of you who voted for him based on his promises, take note: All of the things that Barack Hussein Obama promised not to do are, within his first 60 days in office, firmly in motion.

• Obama is going to drop the Bush tax cuts in 2010
• 
  
• Obama has twice signed legislation containing massive earmarks
• 
  
• Obama has put into motion plans to remove all guns from all American citizens
• 
  
• Obama is nudging along legislation through the Congress that will give illegal Mexican aliens amnesty through "temporary" visas that are renewable forever, forgive them of any back taxes that might be due, provide for free college tuition for them and their children, give them tax cuts and tax incentives, forgive Mexican gang members for their illegal past activities, and pay the legal costs for illegal aliens who have already been deported

• Obama has signed legislation that no longer requires employers to perform
  
• background checks on Mexicans to determine whether or not they are here legally, which means they get to stay in the work force while legal United States citizens are battling soon-to-be 10% unemployment

• Obama is nationalizing health care and controlling who we can go to for medical treatment, what treatment will be provided, and how the treatment will be administered
• 
  
• Obama has begun laying out his ground plan for controlling who can say what in print or on national radio or television
• 
  
• Obama has secretly arranged for his Aunt, here in this country illegally, to stay

Now, this question is: Do you care?

RUSSIANS SAY U.S. WILL DISINTEGRATE IN 2010: Could They Be Right?

High muckety mucks in Russia are predicting that the United States will fail in 2010. Baloney?

The economy is in deep problems and, despite throwing trillions of our hared-earned tax dollars into the empty coffers of banks, automakers, and other financial "giants," it's just not getting any better. The President is saying that he's not all that interested in what the financial markets are doing and Congress is turning a deaf ear to the populace. Oil prices have taken an abrupt turn upwards again, signaling further financial hardship on the horizon. Unemployment is rising, tempers are starting to flare and...could the stage be set?

If civil unrest breaks out in the United States this coming long, hot summer, could the President declare a State of National Emergency, suspend the Constitution, and outlaw guns? Could the President, under such a "National Emergency," shut off electronic access to the banks and our money, seize the oil companies and turn off gas at the pumps, and totally paralyze the country?

Let's take a positive look and assume that he's not going to do that. But.....just to pose the question, if he did, who would stop him? If thousands of Venezuelans and Mexicans, stirred up by Russia and Cuba, also started charging across our borders to the south, who would stop them?

My point is this: We Americans simply cannot be so glib and nonchalant as to jeopardize our freedoms and our democracy by not paying attention to what is going on.

IT'S DAMNED WELL TIME TO TELL THE TRUTH

We're so intent on couching our words these days, so afraid that someone will yell back at us for saying what is on our minds, that we have become an endangered species! We fear that, if we say what we think, if we stand up and put our opinions on the table, those who disagree will most certainly slay us after submitting us to days and weeks of torture on the rack.

These days, particularly in Washington, there are those who will do just that to us! They will do it to us because they know that we have become, at their insistence, a nation of spineless cowards who have forgotten that sticks and stones may break our bones, but words can never hurt us. By the creation of this atmosphere of fear, this modern-day almost-Constitutional requirement for "political correctness," they have assumed a power over us, a control that, in fact, we cannot break until do speak out.

One never learns anything unless they ask questions. "Why?" is a favorite one that comes to mind. "Why is it that this economic tactic you are trying with our money is going to work this time when it has never worked before in the history of mankind?"

To such a question, reasonable men and women would enter into a dialogue and you would discuss viewpoints, history, facts, and economic theory, and in this process you would undoubtedly come to some consensus; some would learn, some would teach, some minds would be changed and the end result would undoubtedly be better. Only those who don't want you to know the answer, only those who have hidden agendas, only those who seek to exercise total and unchallenged control... would deny you an answer to such a question.

We are not to blame for telling the truth, asking questions or expressing our opinions. Those who believe otherwise are nothing more than Satans in our midst.

In honor of a great American, Paul Harvey, we need to start exercising our freedom of speech and thought. And, we need to start today.
