Knowledge is Power: A Sinister Look

We’ve all been taught that knowledge is power, and it is in fact. The Democrats underscored that truth in the 2016 elections when they energized the DOJ, the FBI and intelligence agencies to spy on candidate Donald Trump and his campaign.

In today’s world, we folks who want to maintain our privacy and security protect all of our electronic data with passwords, firewalls, VPNs and antivirus software. We refuse to pass around our Social Security numbers and usually opt out of allowing cookies on our browsers.  We have even taken to buying shredders to destroy our paid bills and sensitive documents.

I was shocked into reality the other day when I received a robocall from an “honest gentleman” from Medicare. Recognizing it immediately as a scam, I decided to put the Middle Eastern thief through his paces. Was I in for a surprise! The guy insisted that I needed my new Medicare card. A new one had been prepared, he explained, and the old red, white and blue card was no longer valid. All I had to do to obtain one was to provide my Medicare number to prove it was me, and he’d send the new one right along.

Of course, I told him that I wanted to know that he was legit and from Medicare. I told him to give me my number and I would confirm whether or not that was correct; after all, if he was actually from Medicare, he’d already know my number. After a lot of squirming on his part, he proceeded to tell me that he was legitimate and he could prove it. “I have your Medicare picture right in front of me. You’re wearing a blue shirt, you have a gray beard and gray hair!”

The s.o.b. was looking at me through my cellphone camera! He was into my cellphone!

The federal government and other law enforcement agencies are demanding access to your cellphone; whether or not it is legal for them to do so is a subject of current litigation. Think about the wealth of information stored in modern-day smartphones!

It is an electronic data world. All of the information about you stored in secret files everywhere is gathered together in one big giant data file. Add to that the bits of information stored in your computers and cellphones, and you have no privacy left. As you probably know, there is a big push on now to get rid of cash and make everyone use a plastic card that will have all of your information encoded on it, from bank accounts to credit cards, to passport information, to identification, to vaccination records, ad infinitum.

Your whole life will become nothing more than a computer number and the government will know everything about you. Remember: knowledge is power. They will have the power and you will have nothing.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
