Protectionism is NOT a Social Disease!

There is a price for liberty.... blood. There is an even bigger price for maintaining it....
constant vigil.

Every single day, someone attempts to chip away at some facet of our American fiber. Every single day, it seems, someone succeeds. Being a nation of laws, we enact and enforce laws to protect our society from the dangers that lurk. We ensure that our citizens have access to good jobs, the right to practice free speech and religion, safety from crime, and countless potential infringements upon our liberty and pursuit of happiness.

The year is 2007. If one is arrested for crime, and if he has access to a good attorney, money, or political sway, he is out scott-free within hours and that is the end of it. If someone crosses our border illegally, we put him in a warm home and reward him with social security benefits and medical care. And, most recently, if an American goes to school to get a commercial license to drive a truck in this country for a living, we reward him by letting in people from other countries where strict regulations do not apply, and we allow them to.... drive a truck and to take away the job from the American.
This is the last straw. It's not just about lettuce anymore. It's about letting someone in from another country to take YOUR job, because they will do it for less.
Americans, we have lost our way, and we're on the verge of losing our liberty.
That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
