HOW THE REAL STORY UNFOLDED AT JAPAN’S NUCLEAR PLANT

SPECIAL POST

When the quake and tsunami hit, communications were also cut, which meant that plant operators had limited access to discuss problems with upper management. You’ll want to read the rest of the story to learn what was going on behind the scenes and why we got mixed messages: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/31/world/asia/31workers.html

Readings on Radiation Network monitors continued to be slightly elevated across the country through yesterday. Readings this morning are a mixed bag, some back to normal, others remaining elevated. One reader mentioned that the “safe” levels established by the EPA may be moved higher; it is already higher than the level established by many nations. Why?

The news coming from the site is not good this morning, either. Levels of radiation in seawater are now more than 4,000 times normal. High radiation has been discovered in at least one location 25 miles from the site, while Japanese authorities retain the evacuation at 12 miles. Radiation has been discovered in Washington state milk, again at “safe” levels. I need to say that I predicted this when the news first came out that radiation “might” reach the U.S. but would never get into milk.

I don’t want to be a merchant of panic, but you need to be reminded that our government has never told us the truth about the dangers of radiation, and THIS government doesn’t tell the truth about anything. So, again, you need to keep aware…we have the possibility of plutonium reaching the U.S. at any hour.

That’s MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

MORE ON RADIATION FROM JAPAN & UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

SPECIAL POST

Radiation levels posted on Radiation Network today shower higher than normal levels in most areas of the U.S.  Levels in the Pacific Northwest appear to be elevated the most but no measured level even approaches levels considered by the government to be dangerous. Word is coming from other countries, such as England and France, that they have detected the Japanese radiation in their atmospheres.

In the meantime, Japanese officials now admit that they may have to give up on the Fukushima plant.  Radiation levels in the seawater around the plant is at 3,000 times normal, again confirming that radioactive water is leaking from the plant into the ocean.  Current plans are to attempt coating the plant in a chemical to contain the radiation enough so that workers can get inside to determine the actual status.  Word coming from those associated with the efforts indicates that, already, the workers will be lucky to live a year due to their exposures.

Also under consideration is a plan to seal the plant in a mixture of sand and cement, similar to what was done in Chernobyl.  The immediate concern is further meltdown of one or more of the reactors while the use of water to cool the reactors seems to be adding to the problem in the seawater.

I have looked at the EPA radiation site.  It needs to be said that it is a government website and for that reason, I don't trust it.  In some locations, there appears to be some very high spike in radiation counts prior the the earthquake and Tsunami... high enough to be brought to the attention of the public.  What is that all about, especially when the spikes rapidly level off to low readings after the quake?  Why didn't those spikes show up on Radiation Network?  Why don't those sites reflect increase in radiation levels a week or so after the quake when Radiation Network sites did?

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

SPECIAL POST

The BBC is reporting this morning that the Japanese government is at a stage of "Maximum Alert" over the problems at it its Fukushima Nuclear facility.  Plutonium has been detected in soil at the facility and highly radioactive water has leaked from a reactor building. Prime Minister Naoto Kan says the plant continues to be "unpredictable."  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12889541

Japanese authorities may extend the danger zone and evacuate more people. In the meantime, U.S. officials identified Iodine 131 as being the radioactive element found on the West Coast.  They have not commented on the danger posed to the public in several days; news outlets continue to report there is no danger.   Radiation has been found in rainwater this morning in Cleveland.

That's MY AMERICAN UPDATE, respectfully submitted.

MORE BAD NEWS: PLUTONIUM ESCAPES JAPAN NUKE PLANT

SPECIAL POST

Plutonium has been found in the ground outside Reactor 3 at levels high enough to kill within 15 seconds.  Whether or not this has gotten into the air and may be headed for the U.S. remains to be seen but, for the first time, health officials are saying that although there is "no reason for concern," we need to be vigilant.  Additionally, a partial meltdown has occurred in at least one reactor and there is increasing heat, signaling more imminent problems.

Read the post below and keep aware.

RADIATION NOW REACHING WEST COAST

SPECIAL POST

Radiation Network's monitors near San Jose and Portland are reflecting slightly higher than normal readings this morning.  News networks are reporting that some radiation has been detected in West Coast rain, something we cautioned about early on.  It was radiation in rain from the Nevada Test Site that got into rivers, lakes and streams in the Midwest back in the 1950's and '60's and that worked its way into milk and caused an increase in cancers among children in those areas.

Every word coming on the news channels and on Radiation Network indicates that the increased radiation is not dangerous.  The problem I have is that the issue is subjective; even one particle of radiation may cause cancer if it hits the right cell in the the right person.  So, any rise, no matter how slight, incrementally increases the risk for all.

Let me be quick to say that I agree, this is not the time for panic.  But. this is the time to be aware and to know what is in the environment on at least a daily basis.  And, don't accept the government's word; get the facts yourself.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

OBAMA LIES ABOUT U.S. GUNS TO MEXICO

SPECIAL POST

For several months, the word coming out of the liberal left and "official" administration sources has been that U.S. gun dealers were supplying Mexican drug cartels with illegally sold guns, and this has been a platform to try and instill more gun control laws.  The gun sales were sometimes referred to by Eric Holder as "the iron pipeline."

In order to make sure that "pipeline" really existed, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), allowed about 1,765 firearms over 15 months to go from gun dealers in the U.S. to straw buyers that were the accomplices of a gun running ring set up by the ATF Gun shops wanted to stop the questionable sales, but ATF encouraged them to continue.

In other words, these sales were arranged for by our government, which in turn blamed the gun sales industry.

I am so sick and tired of the games these bastards are playing.  And, we don't yet know the half of it.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

OBAMA’S FAILURES MOUNT

Every day that goes by, events seem to be occurring that underscore Obama’s inability to deal with real issues. Is it possible that his far-left liberal socialist agenda, an agenda that seemed unstoppable just a year or so ago, has been side-tracked by the developments of the world?

In Korea, you have a tin-horned midget dictator thumbing his growing nuclear weapons nose at the United States and the rest of the world. In Iran, you have another tin-horned midget dictator who is not only thumbing his nuclear nose, but who also seems to be fostering violence and unrest throughout the Middle East. Obama has proven himself to be unequal to the task of dealing with either one of those tin-horns.

Here at home, his sneaky and unscrupulous passage of his health care plan is now proving to be the disaster that it has been advertised to be, and he appears to be unable to rescue it. Haiti had a horrible earthquake that the Obama Administration has badly fumbled; his “success” there makes Bush’s Katrina look like child’s play.

He has been poignantly weak on the earthquake tragedies in New Zealand and Chile. Now, with a horrible catastrophe continuing to unravel in Japan, Obama seems barely able to even speak out on the problems. Here is a staunch American ally in Asia and he almost seems to be turning his back both on the calamity and on the human misery arising there.

The Middle East is more of a tinderbox right now than it has ever been in modern history. Obama flounders by refusing to help Egyptian rebels oust Mubarak, and then compounds his ineptness by committing U.S. forces to go into Libya without seeking the approval of Congress. Caught with his proverbial tits in a wringer, he moves first to turn over command of that operation to France or Britain so that he can take some heat off, and then turns it over to NATO in a last-ditch effort to save face. In his flustering, it evidently never occurred to him that Americans, knowing that NATO forces are commanded by a U.S. General, and that the U.S. has been the lead player in NATO since it was organized, would now point to his maneuvering as further example of his persisting deceits of our country's public.

From the start, Obama policies have been controversial and often impossible to carry out. The Guantanamo debacle, the “racist” policeman event that virtually inaugurated his Presidency, standing behind the New York Mosque, totally misrepresenting the success if his American Recovery Act, budgetary gaffes… All of these things add up, and Americans are taking notice as Obama’s popularity plummets.

When he started, he was unstoppable and able to surround himself with “Czars” under the direction to find ways to circumvent the Constitution and get his radical programs into action. His Rhambo sidekick threatened and coerced Democrats into passing highly unpopular legislation, and Obama almost made no attempt to hide it.

The problem is that, while we can say he is the worst of Presidents ever to occupy the White House, the nation and the world are in current deep trouble and we all need a leader, a good leader, to point the way and get us out of these messes. But, Obama is in a fantasy land where he thinks he’s still “cool.” He appears oblivious to the fact that he literally sucks and that Americans know it. He punctuates his ineptness by playing golf and going on a South American vacation while the rest of the world is in dangerous turmoil.

I honestly don’t know whether or not we can survive another mere 20 months of his Presidency. Considering what he has accomplished during his first 28 months at the helm, I wonder if there will be anything left of the world at the end of 2012.

Maybe the Mayans really did know what is coming.

NEW NUKE DANGER FOR WEST COAST

SPECIAL POST

We know that there was a brief blip, not dangerous, on West Coast radiation monitoring last week.  This means to me that radiation can reach the U.S.  Since then, levels have been continuously normal.  Now, however, there is now serious danger of a major release of radiation from nuclear sites in Japan.  Such a release would be much, much higher and more serious than anything to date.

The news is that a potential breach of the reactor in Plant 3 could spew very high levels of radiation.  Plant workers have been evacuated and the Prime Minister has said: "The situation today at the Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant is still very grave and serious. We must remain vigilant.  We are not in a position where we can be optimistic. We must treat every development with the utmost care."  This particular reactor is loaded with much more dangerous and toxic plutonium.

Over the course of the next 5-10 days, we need to be vigilant on the radiation monitoring here, on the West Coast.  Keep your eyes on www.radiationnetwork.com  Let's hope that those numbers don't change.

MAJOR WEST COAST QUAKE IMMINENT?

SPECIAL POST

At least one "authority" on the subject has come forth and claimed that three recent quakes in the Pacific, Chile, New Zealand and Japan, have set the stage for a major quake along the San Andreas fault.  The offered theory is that those three quakes created a pressurized strain along the San Andreas that must be released.

If you are one of those who has put his house up for sale and started packing, think twice.  "There is no evidence for a connection between all of the Pacific Rim earthquakes," according to Nathan Bangs, a geophysicist who studies tectonic processes at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics.  "I don't know what the basis is for the statements and implications in the Newsweek article, but there is no evidence that there is a link."  In fact, a whole slew of scientists have come forward to debunk the claims.

Now, if President Obama said everything was okay, then you'd have something to worry about.

P.S. Radiation readings along the West Coast continue, so far, at normal levels.

WEST COAST RADIATION BACK TO NORMAL, FOR NOW

SPECIAL POST

As of yesterday afternoon, radiation levels in southern Washington state are back to normal and it's normal everywhere else.  The one-day increase in southern Washington would seem to indicate that an external radiation event, such as radiation from Japan, came through.  That would be from the initial days of the Japanese tragedy.  The level is not considered to be dangerous, but it was elevated and it will be interesting to watch the next few days, inasmuch as we are now approaching five days since the rad levels in Japan spiked; it takes about five days for the winds to bring whatever it is from Japan.

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.

WEST COAST NUKE DANGERS UNDERSCORE NEED FOR SKEPTICISM

By yesterday afternoon, radiation levels in the Bay Area were back to normal and levels in southern Washington State had declined. That’s the good news. The bad news is that this was only the first wave, presumably from the virtual beginning of Japan's nuclear crisis; since that time, there have been several instances of high levels of radiation being released there.

All of us need to keep posted on what is going on during this crisis. We are the ones at risk and I have said that we cannot trust this Administration on any issue. If the danger is as benign as they would suggest, why are they rushing radiation detectors to the West Coast?

You may recall that, according to those guys, if we didn’t pass TARP or the ARA, the nation was going to be in deep, deep trouble. That claim, we now know, was untrue. Obama claimed the ARA money was saving or creating thousands of jobs, and when we dug into it, we found out the figures included employment in Congressional Districts that do not exist. Then, there were the great, terrific and positive effects on the national budget that ObamaCare was going to provide, and we now know those figures were totally manufactured lies.

Now, a new assessment of President Barack Obama's budget released Friday says the White House underestimated future budget deficits by more than $2 trillion over the upcoming decade. The estimate from the CBO says that if Obama's February budget submission is enacted into law it will produce deficits totaling $9.5 trillion over 10 years — an average of almost $1 trillion a year. Obama's budget saw deficits totaling $7.2 trillion over the same period.

It is amazing to me how Obama brought his spin doctors out again over this radiation issue and they all claimed we are safe, that even a modest increase in radiation will not hurt us. First of all, it only takes one blip of radiation to hit the wrong cell in the human body and you have cancer. That’s a fact. They say that the radiation will be dispersed and will not hurt us, but hundreds of citizens got leukemia and other cancers from U.S. nuke tests back in the 1950’s and ‘60’s. The government then was saying everything was hunky dory okay, but those living hundreds of miles downwind eventually collected damages.

I don’t want to be an alarmist. I am simply pointing out the facts and providing people with a way to keep their eyes on the radiation levels for themselves, www.radiationnetwork.com - I do want us to go through this with our eyes open and, if the danger doesn’t materialize, so much the better and by keeping ourselves educated and informed, we won’t have to wonder.

WEST COAST RADIATION LEVELS ON THE RISE?

SPECIAL POST

A national website, www.radiationnetwork.com, shows normal day-to-day radiation levels.  Every area of the world has what they call "normal background levels" of radiation.  Since yesterday afternoon, two locations have shown increases, one in southern Washington state and one in the San Francisco Bay area.

Although the levels have not increased to any significant danger, these numbers bear watching in the coming days.

RADIATION PLUME HEADS FOR U.S.

SPECIAL POST

The news this morning is that a plume of radiation is headed for Alaska today and the West Coast of the lower U.S. on Friday.  Authorities are quick to say that they do not believe this radiation will post any danger to citizens because it will have dissipated.

Here are actual facts as we know them:

  • The Japanese have not been telling the whole story

This government of ours does not exactly have a history, especially under Obama, of telling the truth about anything

  • The news comes literally only hours before the danger begins to strike, although government meteorologists would knew from the onset where the plume is likely to go

  • Radiation from nuke tests in Nevada reached the mid-west in the 1950's and '60's and caused leukemia and other cancers for which the U.S. paid damages in the 1980's.  The predominant problem was rain feeding groundwater, feeding cows and resulting radiation in milk.

  • Rain will be soaking the West Coast during this period
    You be the judge.

JAPAN: TWO SIDES OF THE COIN

    SPECIAL POST

There are two sides of the story in Japan that have gone largely unexplored in all of the rhetoric floating around.

The one side is horribly ugly.  If you are lucky enough to be alive, do you feel the pain, the anguish, the wondering as to where your son, daughter, mother or brother is?  Where are you going to sleep tonight?  What about the simple question of food in your belly; where will you get it tonight, tomorrow or the day after?  Were you able to have your injuries attended to?  And what about the BIG question: Have you been contaminated with radiation and, if so, what will the effects be?

Then there is the other side of the story.  This side is just as ugly, in its own way.  It's about you and me, sitting in our recliners with channel clicker in hand and snacks close by, watching all of this misery and suffering from afar, and wondering where the price of gas will be tomorrow and why we have to contend with a health care plan that we do not want.

Ahh, yes... The poor, unfortunate Japs; please pass the popcorn.

    NUCLEAR QUESTIONS

    SPECIAL POST

The Japanese nuclear plant tragedy is unfolding at lightening speed.  There many questions about what went wrong.

The plant automatically scrambled and shut down when the quake hit.  But, it requires electrical power to operate pumps and other equipment.  It immediately should switch to drawing electricity from the grid, but the grid had no electricity, either.  So, it then goes to backup diesel generators that evidently did not work.  As a final measure, it should go to emergency batteries, but it didn't.  Why did all of this redundant safety backup fail?

Why didn't they bring a naval ship in close to shore to supply emergency power to the plant?  Ship generators have the capability to supply power to small cities.

Nuclear energy is safe, regardless of what we are seeing.  But, there are questions which need to be answered.

GOD DAMNED LIARS DID IT AGAIN

    SPECIAL POST

The White House has admitted that it double-counted $500 billion in health care savings.  This is yet another outrageous lie using fuzzy math by our President.

Remember when he was saving or creating jobs with his ARA money in Congressional Districts that don't exist?

I've said it many times, you cannot trust any math this Administration uses.

They lie, they obfuscate, they mislead, they cannot be trusted. Shame on every damned one of them.

That's MY AMERICAN TRUTH, respectfully submitted.

    UNAMERICAN ACTIVITIES

Repealing the HealthCare Act would result in savings of $1.4 trillion, says a new report by the CBO. Democrats have crowed--wrongly--that repeal would add $210 billion to the deficit. They're counting cutting Medicare by half a trillion (good luck finding a doctor) and increasing taxes by $813 billion. Senate Democrats need a wake-up call.

This brings me to a point. Have you noticed that liberal Democrats don’t give a damn what the majority of Americans want? If they can’t get their own way legally and within the system, they’ll force their agenda on the rest of us through unethical and, often, illegal means.

The most recent demonstration of this principle is the situation in Wisconsin, where the majority of the legislature and the majority of the people want the union issues there resolved once a for all. 14 Democrats chose to try and assert their wills against the majority by leaving the state and breaking a quorum need to hold a vote on the issue. They intend to stay out of the state until they get their way and they don't care about any majority will of the people.  They should be totally ashamed of themselves.

Back on the health care plan issue, they lied to us, they manipulated us, they held closed door meetings, they obfuscated the facts in a 2,300 page bill, they threatened fellow members of Congress and they bought votes with our money… They did all of these things although the overwhelming majority of Americans were solidly against their plan. Now that the Courts seem to be ruling against them, they are dragging their feet in the appeals process while hoping to delay a Supreme Court hearing until after the 2012 elections or until after some conservative leaves the bench.

These people have the audacity to call themselves Americans. Where I come from, Americans obey the law. Americans go along with the will of the majority. Americans play the games by the rules. Americans work together to solve common problems.

These guys are definitely not Americans.

Those may sound like harsh words, but they are true. These people want to mold our country into something that it was never intended to be: a socialist state. They do not believe in a free and democratic society, they believe only in their own selfish and absolute rule. And I, for one, am sick and tired of their demeanor, their game playing, and their un-American activities.

We Americans need to stand together and put those un-American charlatans in their place.

NO TO U.S. MILITARY ACTION IN LIBYA

    SPECIAL POST

I'm sorry to be a spoiler but, I'd like to know under what grounds of International Law the United States would invade Libya and establish a "no-fly" zone or take other military action.

Granted, with what is going on in Libya in a struggle for freedom against a despot dictator, the impulse is to go to the aid of the rebels.  But, I know of no premise in International Law that allows one nation to invade another under these circumstances.

In the case of Iraq, there was a widespread belief that the country had weapons of mass destruction.  The United Nations passed a resolution demanding inspections and Iraq refused.  The U.N. authorized military action and we, along with several other nations, invaded.  But, that is not the case here.  There is no authorization for military action by the U.N. Yes, the rebels there have asked us to intervene on their behalf but, if we do intervene are we not opening the door for China to invade the U.S. because the left-wing liberals are protesting in our streets?

Why haven't we invaded Somalia and taken out the hijackers there?  They are overtly attacking ships from other countries on the high seas.  The reason is that Somalia is a nation and, like Libya, it has certain protections against invasion by International Law.

I think we are treading in dangerous waters.  The fact that we are there with our ships could easily be seen as a provocation.  We need to rethink what we are doing and how we are going about it.

    FARRAKHAN VOWS U.S. VIOLENCE

    SPECIAL POST

Louis Farrakhan, leader of the American movement Nation of Islam and self-avowed pal of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, contends that the revolutions erupting in North Africa and the Mideast will be coming soon to the United States.  “What you see happening there, you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door, America.”

And, don't you wonder just what our President will do if this happens?

That's MY AMERICAN OPINION, respectfully submitted.
